ABOUT MICROBLADING+SHADING.
Microblading - a form of permanent makeup that manually implants ultra-fine lines of color pigment beneath the skin with a disposable handheld tool. This technique is customized to fit your style and create fullness & definition. Microblading strokes mimic natural-looking hair and enhance the overall shape and appearance of the eyebrow. The results are realistic, natural, fuller-looking eyebrows that last 9 to 24 months (depending on client's skin type) before a touch-up is recommended.

Shading, a.k.a. “Powder Eyebrow” - a cosmetic tattoo shading technique that uses a digital handheld machine to create a soft "powder-filled" eyebrow that resembles an everyday polished "makeup look." The ombré effect is created by shading darker at the tail of the brows and gradually becoming lighter toward the head of the brows. Suitable for most skin types and last 2 to 5 years (depending on client's skin type) before a touch-up is recommended.

Combo Brows, a.k.a. "Blade & Shade" - the ultimate brow treatment that combines Microblading and Ombré Brows. Combo brows offer the best of both "powdered" and "hair stroke" effects to achieve a beautifully natural, yet perfectly defined, eyebrow transformation that lasts 2 to 5 years (depending on client's skin type) before a color boost is recommended.

The great news is that it is the same price for any brow style you choose. We recommend bringing pictures of your desired brow style to your appointment so we can see what style you prefer.

What is permanent make-up?Permanent make-up (PMU) is better understood as "Semi-Permanent Make-Up." It is the process of implanting pigment into the upper region of our skin's dermis that lasts anywhere from 9 months to 5 years, depending on procedure, environment, and skin type. With time, PMU procedures fade and need to be refreshed.

Do I need a consultation? We only require a consultation ahead of time if you have previously had any other permanent cosmetics done in the same face area. If you haven’t, then you can go ahead and schedule an appointment online. You may schedule a free 15-minute consultation if you have concerns about shape, color, or overall design.

How long does it last? The longevity of your procedure depends on a few things... Aftercare is key, and needs to be followed diligently for best results. Other factors are skin type, lifestyle, and pigment choice. Clients who have a more oily complexion may need touch ups sooner than a client who is normal to dry. Once healed, it is recommended to keep SPF on the treated area to limit pigment loss from sun exposure. You would also want to avoid any skin care products that peel the skin in the treated area. Darker pigment choices take longer to fade than lighter pigments. Upon completion of your first appointment and touch up, a color boost can be expected anywhere from six to eighteen months depending on the individual.

Does it hurt?We use two types of anesthetics that contain lidocaine, tetracaine, and epinephrine. The first one is a pre-procedure topical anesthetic that works on unbroken skin, but takes 15 minutes to take effect. The initial pain level is usually described as a 3 out of 10. During the procedure, we use a second anesthetic that is much stronger, but that only works on open skin. After the second anesthetic, most describe pain to be on a scale of 0-2 out of 10. Some clients even fall asleep!

Can I tan before or after my appointment?Avoid sun/tanning bed exposure for 30 days BEFORE and AFTER your procedure. If you show up for your appointment with a new tan or a sunburn, you will need to reschedule. As your skin exfoliates from a sunburn, it will take the tattoo pigment with it.

How long do appointments take?Your first appointment will be approximately 3 hours for eyebrows or 2 hours for eyeliner. Usually around 45 minutes of your appointment consists of shaping and mapping. We will choose a shape for your eyebrows based off of facial measurements and personal preference, while working with what natural face shape/hair you have. For eyebrows, we strive to incorporate as much of your natural eyebrows as possible for a dimensional look. Eyebrow touch-up appointments are scheduled for 2 hours, but may be complete in under 1 hour. For eyeliner, your touch up is scheduled for 1 hour.
-
What forms of payment do you take and can I tip on a card?We accept cash or any major credit card. Credit card charges on the day of the appointment are subject to a 3% processing fee. Yes, you are welcome to tip on a card and would be much appreciated!
-
How will I look the day after my appointment? Can I go to work the next day?For the first couple days, the permanent make-up may appear darker and bolder, but any redness and swelling from the procedure should dissipate within the first few days (usually completely gone within 1-4 days). Most people have no problem going right back to work the next day.
-
How long does it take to heal? You are considered healed at 6 weeks, which is when we aim to schedule your touch-up appointment. For the first 10 days, the area may be tender and itchy, but please treat it like an open wound and do not scratch, pick at, or wear make-up over the area. Because it may appear flakey or scabby during the first 10 days, try not to have any major events or photo ops scheduled. After 10 days, it would be ok to wear make-up over areas that appear patchy with uneven pigment. Patchiness usually smooths out over the next few weeks as the area heals from the inside-out. Any areas that lost more pigment than others will be touched-up at the 6-week appointment.

How is parking? There is paid street parking on weekdays before 5pm. After 5pm and on weekends, street parking is free and there is also a parking garage with free parking. Please ensure you have enough time before your appointment to find parking!
